The Pennsylvania Railroad crossed the Brandywine River in a center swing movable bridge located just south of Northeast Blvd. bridge. While this bridge is not abandoned, we at Forgotten Delaware feel it is worthy of mention as it was a movable bridge that was operated to allow vessels including sailing ships to pass to the Superfine Lane area of Wilmington. The movement of flour from Wilmington via ship is very much a part of Forgotten Delaware and we hope to cover this in more detail in the future. Click any photo below for a larger view.
